2,380 NSCDC officers on ground to oversee safe Xmas, New Year celebrations in Kwara

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, said it has deployed 2,380 personnel to ensure a safe and peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Ayoola Shola, in Ilorin.

The statement said that the deployment was to strengthen the protection of critical national assets, safeguard public facilities, and ensure safety of residents throughout the Yuletide.

It stated, “The deployment covered all 16 Local Government Areas of the state. The personnel were drawn from elite and specialized units, including Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit.”

The statement stressed that officers had been strategically positioned based on threat assessments and operational requirements.

It assured residents that the command would collaborate with other security agencies, including vigilantes, to ensure effective coverage, rapid response, and comprehensive security throughout the festive period.

The statement warned vandals and troublemakers, declaring that NSCDC was fully prepared to confront any attempt to disrupt public peace or tamper with critical assets.

It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
