Bandits shoot travelers in Eruku
One person was shot when suspected bandits attacked two vehicles at a border town in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, over the weekend.
The victim, a male passenger in an evangelism bus belonging to the National Congress of Evangelization, Oyo State chapter, was hit in the left leg.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and later discharged.
The vehicles were travelling to Isanlu, Kogi State, when the assailants struck along the Eruku–Obbo Ile road.
Witnesses said the gunmen emerged from both sides of the road and opened fire on the vehicles.
The driver reportedly sped off, narrowly escaping from the scene.
“One of the passengers sustained gunshot injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital,” a witness said.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Adekimi Ojo, said efforts were underway to track down the attackers.
“Two vehicles travelling to Isanlu were attacked. One was carrying grains, while the other had passengers heading for a wedding ceremony. A person sustained a gunshot injury and has been treated and discharged,” he said.
