Kwara boosts security with 2,600 new forest guards under Governor AbdulRazaq’s order

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has approved the recruitment of 2,600 additional forest guards to bolster security efforts, particularly in the Kwara North and South senatorial districts.

This initiative aims to intensify the fight against banditry and restore lasting peace across the state.

These new recruits will join the 700 forest guards already engaged and actively working with security agencies on the frontline.

The training for these 2,600 new personnel is scheduled to commence this week, according to the governor.

Like their predecessors, they will undergo advanced military training, which includes the handling of sophisticated weapons and modern counter-insurgency strategies.

The training will also cover strategic engagements in swampy and riverine areas to ensure effective operations throughout the state. This comprehensive training will be conducted by officers and men of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Sobi.

A media aide to the governor confirmed this development, emphasizing that this recruitment drive underscores Governor AbdulRazaq’s commitment to strengthening the state’s security architecture and ensuring that criminal elements are rooted out.
